EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS INFORMATION

Are you prepared for an emergency?  The Wildwood Crest Police Department is dedicated to helping the citizens of this Borough prepare for emergencies on all levels.  Please heed the advice and be prepared!    

 

Here are some helpful hints:

  1. Keep current copies of all important papers or valuables in a safe-deposit box.

  2. Write instructions on how and when to turn off your utilities-- electricity, gas, and water.

  3. Decide where your family would go in case you must evacuate.

  4. Make sure you have extra medicine on hand.

  5. Keep a current list of medications.

  6. Make sure you have baby formula, food, diapers, etc., if needed.

  7. If you have a pet, have supplies ready.

IN THE EVENT OF A HURRICANE:

  1. Listen to NOAA Weather Radio or local tv stations for updates.

  2. Prepare to bring indoors lawn furniture, trash cans, and anything else that can be picked up by wind.

  3. Prepare to cover ALL windows.

  4. Fill car's gas tank.

  5. Check batteries and stock up on canned food, drinking water, first aid supplies, and medications.

  6. Evacuate, if told to do so.

  7. Assemble a Disaster Supplies Kit, to include:

               -First Aid Kit & Essential Medicines

               -Canned food & Opener

               -At least 3 gallons of water per person

               -Protective clothing, rainwear, and bedding / sleeping bags

               -Battery-powered radio, flashlight and extra batteries

               -Special items for infant, elderly, and disabled family members

               -Written instructions on how and when to turn off utilities
