The Wildwood Crest Police Department has always sought out individuals with a passion to serve, dedication to duty, and relentless work ethic when looking for members to join our team. Our officers are held to the highest of standards and only a select few individuals earn the opportunity to become a Wildwood Crest Police Officer.
Our department has always placed an emphasis on service to the public and those who apply should expect opportunities to interact in positive settings with the community we serve. Through innovative community policing initiatives and a strong partnership with our local elementary school, our officers are able to connect with every demographic of our community. There is no problem too big or too small for our officers to assist with and those looking to join our team must be able to wear many hats. Our Department offers opportunities to serve within the Community Outreach Program, Adopt-A-Cop Program, LEAD Officer, and many other teams or initiatives.
Officers with the Wildwood Crest Police Department are dedicated to ensuring a safe environment for all those who live in and visit our community. We pride ourselves in taking proactive steps to detect and deter criminal behavior and relentlessly pursue those who wish to harm or take of advantage of those we serve. Our Patrol Officers are the backbone of the department and lead the way in this area. Officers joining our department can also earn opportunities to serve with the Detective Division, Cape May County Regional SWAT Team, County Gangs Guns and Narcotics Task Force, or K9 Unit.
Those looking to join our team should be prepared to commit themselves to continued education and evolvement. Learning for Law Enforcement Professionals does not end with a graduation from the Police Academy. As an Accredited Agency, our officers conduct hundreds of hours of training each year to stay ever vigilant and prepared to carry out their duties. Many of our officers also serve as Instructors at the Cape May County Police Academy in areas such as Firearms, Defensive Tactics, Officer Survival, Vehicle Operations, Physical Fitness and many classroom topics. Our department is also committed to the well being of our members and understands that proper support ensures a safe and productive career. Our officers are afforded time during their shift for physical training at our in-house gym to stay in the best of physical shape and our Resiliency Program and Employee Assistance Program ensure whole health and wellness. Our Department has always strived to lead the way in innovation as well, being the first Police Department in Cape May County to deploy Body Worn Cameras and Outer Carrier Vests, allowing us to evolve to meet the ever changing needs and expectations of the profession.
